Manchester United Looking To Sell Berbatov This Summer

Dimitar Berbatov looks headed for the Exit door as Sir Alex Ferguson is rumored to have just about enough of his poor performances ever since the Bulgarian joined the club. Even though we often hear SAF defending his most expensive purchase ever, it’s clearly evident that Berbs has lost the faith of the Scotsman as he was a substitute in all the major games for Manchester United this season.

Berbatov’s whole career at the Red Devils has been characterized by ups and down. Simply put, he is not able to deliver on a consistent basis. Some games you see him shine and produce certain plays that are pure class only to be completely moody and Lost on the pitch for the next game. When given the chance to carry the main scoring burden in attack (in the occasional absences of Rooney), Berba-flop failed to deliver the goods except for the Away game at Bolton won by United 0-4 with two goals from the Bulgaria captain.

But the truth is that Berba has been having a better season that last year and he managed to score two exceptional goals that will definitely go down in the history of Man Utd. Just remember the two sidekicks he scored earlier this season. And he is always looking to assist, as he gives over 10 finishing passes per season becoming one of the leaders in English Football in that category. However, it’s not what people expect from United’s number 9 as they are used to having a type of player that’s selfish and scored 30+ goals a season like Van Nistelroy or Andy Cole for example. Well, Berbatov is certainly not that type of goal poacher but SAF was well aware of that when signing him. Perhaps the biggest factor that has caused all these critics on Berba is his extremely high price tag. He is definitely not worth 30 million pounds and if they had bought him for 15-20 it would have been a completely different story whatsoever.

Another major problem for Dimi is that he is now 29 years old so he is got no more than 1-2 quality seasons ahead of him. With that in mind, how would be willing to buy him?

Prior to the Champions League clash between Man Utd and Bayern Munich, Van Gaal admited he was a fan of the Bulgarian player, so a return to the Bundesliga is certainly one of the most realistic options for him. He knows the country well and he has great experience playing the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen.

Other reports suggest that AC Milan have already made an offical approach for the unsettled forward. The Italians view Berbatov as the ideal replaced for Dutchman flop Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Sources close to the Rossoneri suggest they won’t be willing to pay more than £15 million for him.
